Getting close to the end of a successful run of Barberillo de lavapies with the IN Series in Washington DC. Here are a few links to reviews.

Operas deal a few hands in life, love and double-entendre By Charles T. Downey, Monday, January 9, 5:17 PM ...The highlight of the cast was the bubbly Lamparilla of Peter Joshua Burroughs, with some charming dancing and choreography from Heidi Kershaw
DC Theatre Scene review: ...Peter Joshua Burroughs does a terrific job as Lamparilla, the barber of Lavapiés. It’s a role he is totally suited for, and his comic abilities were well matched with good singing form. In “Duo de Tirana,” he and his Paloma sing to each other about what they did while he was in jail. They seem to have such fun on stage together and help the audience fall apart laughing at the incongruities in the form. José Sacin as Music-Director/Conductor and Billie Whittaker on piano keep the music rolling for a very satisfying evening of music-theatre. Hats off to them, director Rick Davis, and ensemble... http://dctheatrescene.com/2012/01/09/barber-and-barberillo/
Maryland Theatre Guide: ...The In Series deals a ‘royal flush’ of magic and love and great singing as Rick Davis directs a talented group of singers/comedians in the operatic double-header of Samuel Barber and Giancarlo Menotti’s A Hand of Bridge (1959), and Francisco Asenjo Barbieri’s The Little Barber [‘barberillo’] of Lavapies (1874), in Barber & Barberillo. And for theatregoers who have not heard or seen zarzuela before – you are in for a real treat!... ...There are so many fine vocal highlights in this production, but my favorites were Anamer Castrello’s energy and emotion-filled “Cancion de Paloma,” “Duet of the Majas, [Duos de las Majas]‘ with Castrello (Paloma) teaching Rouweyha (Marquesita – her character in the zarzuela – how to act like a ‘Maja’ (the other women in the town) so she can disappear in the crowd and not be noticed. and the gorgeous singing of Castrello (Paloma) and Burroughs (her barber Lamparilla) in “Duo y Tirana,” where they tell each other what they did when the barber was in prison. It’s funny stuff and there was a lot of laughs coming from everyone in the theatre during this duet... http://mdtheatreguide.com/2012/01/barber-barberillo-at-the-in-series/
Washington Times Review: http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/curtain-up/2012/jan/13/series-barber-b
arberillo-rollicking-double-bill/ In Series' 'Barber & Barberillo' a rollicking double bill Barber’s primary cast—two of whom return from the Samuel Barber opus—breeze through their stock parts well, and sing those parts even better. At the top of their game are Randa Rouweyha (Estrella), Alvaro Rodriguez (Don Luis), Peter Joshua Burroughs (Lamparillo), and Anamer Castrello (Paloma). Burroughs is particularly en pointe in his role as the puckish barber, and Castrello’s burnished mezzo embodies the earthiness of the local denizens. Rouweyha and Rodriguez are a delight as the quarreling, time-traveling couple...
